Bandwagoneers
I’ve seen way too many of these magnetic ribbons on the backs of cars — often high-priced ones, if not always SUVs. There are yellow ones that read, “Support Our Troops,” and red-white-and-blue ones that read, “God Bless America,” and others. You can’t miss them.
I’m all for free speech, so despite the fact that I disagree both with these emblems and the people who buy and attach them to their cars, I won’t rip them off the parked cars I walk by.
But I’d love to pull up to one of these cars at a stoplight, roll down my window, and ask the other driver to roll down his (or hers). Then:
Me: “Pardon me. You support our troops?”
It: “Yes, yes I do. Did you see my magnet, comrade?
Me: “Yup. But if you support our troops, why don’t you support GETTING THEM OUT OF IRAQ AND BACK HOME WHERE THEY BELONG?”
It’s not just the red states. I see dumb people. They’re everywhere. They don’t even know they’re dumb.
And don’t even get me started on the bastardizing of a pure cause – wearing bracelets to support the curing of cancer – for the sake of fashion.
