If you haven’t heard of Bill Hicks, you haven’t spent much time around me at all, have you?
Bill Hicks was a comedian. He is dead now, but he was born on this date, December 16, in 1961.
Several of my away messages come from him. The one about the waffle waitress. The one about the positive LSD story. The one about Evolution not stopping with us growing thumbs.
Some might call him a smarter, mellower Dennis Miller, with fewer obscure similes, crossed with Sam Kinison and a dash of Denis Leary (who, it turns out, stole most of No Cure for Cancer from old Hicks material), and in style and haircut, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
His basic message was: Choose Love, instead of Fear.
My words can’t do him justice (even though, in many of my blog entries, I’m doing my best to imitate him – and failing miserably at it).
Do us all a favor, and check him out for yourself:
