Strange Days Indeed

Most peculiar. I kind of wish that UFO did show up yesterday, or at least that those reports of that UFO showing up yesterday were at all true. I wouldn’t be too surprised. I think a UFO rearing its shiny head above our fair cities is exactly what we need to end the boundless self-absorption that has defined the 21st century so far.

For my own damn good, and to a lesser extent everyone else’s, I’d love for that spaceship to arrive so I and we can stop nonstop facebooking and watching lesser YouTube clips and unfunny commercials and ironic t-shirts that weren’t funny even when they weren’t being ironic and actually and legitimately and wholly feel the sense of AWE, from the pit of the stomach to the back of the throat to the golden hum in everyone’s chest, that we have unlearned how to feel by inundating ourselves with ourselves, and our media, sweeping the minutiae of everyone else’s everyday lives into the cracks of our brains that need no filling but rather opening up, beat to airy thinness, and then invisibility, and then indivisibility.
